Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many lessons will we need?

A: Most wedding couples feel confident with 6–9 private sessions, depending on the complexity of your choreography and how comfortable you are dancing together. Couples who have a dance background, a focused 3–lesson series just to polish a few steps is all they need. For those who want more practice to get really polished or who feel dancing doesn't come as naturally, they feel great with the full 12 lesson series and absolutely love how confident they are by the end.

Q: What if neither of us has danced before?

A: Then you're in the right place! Every session is tailored to where you are right now. I focus on building confidence first, then layering in technique and flow. I’ve worked with complete beginners who went from nervous to effortless on the dance floor in just a few sessions.

Q: Can we create a custom choreography for our wedding song?

A: Absolutely! Crafting a dance that is personal and authentic is my favorite part of the process. We’ll start with the song, explore movements that suit your style, and gradually shape a performance that feels natural, beautiful, and uniquely yours.

Q: Are lessons only for wedding couples?

A: Not at all! While many clients are preparing for their first dance, these lessons are also perfect for anniversaries, special events, or anyone wanting to feel confident and connected with a partner.

Q: Do we need special shoes or attire?

A: No, I want you to be comfortable. Exercise or loungewear with sneakers is perfect for the first few lessons. Near the end of your package, I recommend bringing your wedding shoes to break them in.

Q: How long is each session?

A: Sessions are 45 minutes. This gives us plenty of time to warm up, review previous lessons, and introduce new choreography while not being overwhelming.

Q: Can we include lifts and dips?

A: Yes! We call these figures or partnering elements, and we build up slowly so every movement feels elegant and controlled. Many couples love this step because it’s visually stunning but fully approachable.

Q: Do you provide music or should we bring our own?

A: Either works. If you're preparing for your wedding, we'll use your first dance song. If you don't have one yet and would like my suggestion, I'm happy to help you select music that suits your style and timing. For non-wedding couples, you're welcome to bring some favorite tracks or I can choose music based on the styles you'd like to learn.

Q: Can lessons be scheduled around our wedding timeline?

A: Definitely. I work with your calendar so you’re never stressed. We might do one session per week, one every other week, or once per month leaving plenty of time to practice in between. The pacing is always customized to keep the process joyful, not rushed.
